MusE is a  free software MIDI/Audio sequencer with recording and editing capabilities. It was originally written by Werner Schweer and now is developed by the Muse development team.

The Muses (, mousai: perhaps from the o-grade of the Proto-Indo-European root *men- "think") in Greek mythology, poetry, and literature, are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge, related orally for centuries in the ancient culture that was contained in poetic lyrics and myths.

The Muses are nine goddesses in Greek mythology who control and symbolize nine types of art known to Ancient Greece, and are associated with artistic inspiration.

Die Musen (Einzahl , Mousa) sind in der griechischen Mythologie Schutzgöttinnen der Künste. Sie sind Töchter der Mnemosyne, der Göttin der Erinnerung und des Zeus.

Dans la mythologie grecque (Hésiode, Théogonie, 53-57 et 915-917), les Muses sont les neuf filles de Zeus et de Mnémosyne.

Muse är en grammynominerad och awardsvinnande brittisk rockgrupp som bildades 1994 i Teignmouth, Devon. Bandet består av de tre medlemmarna Matthew Bellamy (sång, gitarr, piano), Christopher Wolstenholme (bakgrundssång, bas) och Dominic Howard (trummor). Muse är framför allt kända för sina spektakulära livespelningar och sin kombination av omaka genres, såsom klassisk musik, electronica, hårdrock och R&B.

I grekisk mytologi och romersk mytologi var muserna (på grekiska: Μουσαι, Mousai) ursprungligen poesins gudinnor. Men blev sedan de gudinnor som inspirerade även andra konstnärer, filosofer och intellektuella. De omnämns som gudinnor redan i de tidigaste källorna och tvekade inte att döda personer som försökte sätta sig upp emot dem (Thamyris dödas av muserna i Iliaden på grund av att han försökt överträffa dem i sång). Den romerska motsvarigheten till muserna kallades Camenae.

Muse jest pochodzącym z Anglii zespołem rockowym, utworzonym w Teignmouth (hrabstwo Devon) w 1997 roku przez Matthew Bellamy'ego (wokal prowadzący, gitara, keyboard), Chrisa Wolstenholme'a (bass, keyboard, podkład wokalny), oraz Dominica Howarda (perkusja). Ostatnio w czasie występów live ery Black Holes and Revelations na gitarze i keyboardzie pojawił się też Morgan Nicholls. Zespół łączy rock alternatywny, rock progresywny, muzykę klasyczną, funk, elektronikę i heavy metal, określając nowy podgatunek new prog. Grupa jest znana ze swych energetycznych występów koncertowych oraz ekscentrycznych zainteresowań frontmana Matthew Bellamy'ego teoriami globalnej konspiracji, teologią oraz apokalipsą. Wydali 4 albumy studyjne. Ostatni, Black Holes and Revelations został przyjęty najgoręcej i przyniósł zespołowi nominację do Mercury Prize, dostał też tytuł trzeciego albumu roku NME w liście rocznej dla 2006.

Muza – bogini w mitologii greckiej, początkowo jedna - opiekunka aojdów, muza pamięci, później trzy: Aoede (śpiew i poezja), Melete (nauka, praca) i Mneme (pamięć, wspomnienia). W Delfach nosiły one inne nazwy - była Nete, Mesi i Hypate, które są również nazwami trzech antycznych muzycznych strun liry. U Homera jest ich jednak już 9 - są one córkami Zeusa i Mnemosyne. U Hezjoda są córkami Matki Ziemi i Powietrza. Wszystkie muzy miały zdolność wieszczenia i występowały w orszaku Apollina, ich przewodnika. Ośrodkiem kultu muz był Parnas i Helikon w Beocji (muzy helikońskie).
