Murad V

Sultan Mehmed Murad V (September 21, 1840-August 29, 1904) (Arabic: مراد الخامس) was the 33rd sultan of the Ottoman Empire who reigned from May 30 to August 31, 1876. His father was Abdülmecid.Murad became the Sultan when his uncle Abdülaziz was deposed. He was highly influenced by French culture. He reigned for 93 days before being deposed on the grounds that he was mentally ill. He failed to deliver the Constitution that his supporters had sought, and under his reign the country moved closer to the disastrous war with Russia, then-ruled by Alexander II.
