Muhammad 'Alī Pasha al-Mas'ud ibn Agha (Arabic: محمد علي باشا) (Albanian: Mehmet Ali Pasha) or Mehmet Ali Paşa in Turkish, (c. 1769 - August 21849), was Wali of Egypt and Sudan, and is regarded as the "founder of modern Egypt". The dynasty he established would rule Egypt and Sudan until the Egyptian Revolution of 1952.
