Mtskheta
Mtskheta , one of the oldest cities of the country of Georgia (in Kartli province of Eastern Georgia), is located approximately 20 kilometers north of Tbilisi at the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. The city (population 19,423 as of January 1, 2008) is now the administrative centre of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region. Due to its historical significance and numerous ancient monuments, the "Historical Monuments of Mtskheta" became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

Mzcheta
Mzcheta (georgisch ) ist die Hauptstadt der Region Mzcheta-Mtianeti im Osten Georgiens. Sie hat 7.423 Einwohner (Stand 1. Januar 2005) und liegt nur wenige Kilometer nördlich von Tiflis am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Kura und Aragwi im Großen Kaukasus. Sie war die mittelalterliche Hauptstadt Georgiens und ist ein religiöses Zentrum des Landes. Die Kulturdenkmäler von Mzcheta gehören zum UNESCO-Welterbe.

Mtskheta
Mtskheta (en géorgien : ) est l'une des plus vieilles villes de Géorgie. Situé dans la province de Karthlie, dans l'est du pays, près de Tbilissi, Mtskheta fut la capitale du royaume géorgien d'Ibérie du au . C'est à Mtskheta que les Géorgiens commencèrent à se convertir au christianisme ; le Catholicossat-Patriarcat de toute la Géorgie y est encore basé.

Mccheta
Mccheta (gruz. მცხეთა) - miasto we wschodniej Gruzji, przy ujściu rzeki Aragwa do Kury. Posiada ok. 7420 mieszkańców (2005).
Mccheta jest jednym z najstarszych miast Gruzji. Położona na ważnym trakcie handlowym, łączącym brzeg Morza Czarnego z miastami na kaspijskim wybrzeżu istniała już w głębokiej starożytności. Przez kilka wieków Mccheta była stolicą gruzińskiego królestwa Iberii (od III wieku p.n.e. aż do V wieku n.e., gdy król Wachtang Gorgasali przeniósł stolicę do Tbilisi). Rezydujący w Mcchecie iberyjski król Miriam III w 317 r. przyjął chrześcijaństwo, dlatego też miasto do dziś jest siedzibą najwyższych władz Gruzińskiego Kościoła Prawosławnego.
