Mozart

Mozart! is an Austrian musical in German, with book and lyrics by Michael Kunze and music and arrangements by Sylvester Levay. The original production was directed by the controversial opera director Harry Kupfer. It premiered on October 2 1999, in the Theater an der Wien, and the final performance was on 7 May 2001. It ran for 419 performances, showing to approximately 420,000 patrons. The show is a new imagining of the struggles of the famous composer.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (, baptized Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart) (27 January 1756 –  5 December 1791) was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. His output of over 600 compositions includes works widely acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, piano, operatic, and choral music. Mozart is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers and many of his works are part of the standard concert repertoire.

Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgang Theophilus Mozart, plus connu sous le nom de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (né à Salzbourg, principauté du Saint Empire romain germanique, le  27 janvier 1756 – mort à Vienne le 5 décembre 1791) est généralement considéré comme l’un des plus grands compositeurs de la musique classique européenne. Bien que mort à trente-cinq ans, il laisse une œuvre importante (626 œuvres sont répertoriées dans le Catalogue Köchel) qui embrasse tous les genres musicaux de son époque. Selon le témoignage de ses contemporains c’était, au piano comme au violon, un virtuose.

Mozart è annoverato tra i geni della musica. Dotato di raro talento, manifestatosi precocemente, morì a trentacinque anni di età lasciando pagine indimenticabili di musica sinfonica, sacra, da camera e operistica.I quattro nomi che furono dati al bambino si giustificano così: Johannes Chrysostomus, perché il 27 gennaio, secondo il calendario cattolico, era intitolato a san Giovanni Crisostomo, patriarca di Costantinopoli e patrono degli oratori; Wolfangus, in onore del suo nonno materno, Wolfgang Nikolaus Pertl; Theophilus (Gottlieb, in tedesco), in onore del padrino, Johann Gottlieb Pergmayr, commerciante e consigliere civico. In seguito l'ultimo nome venne mutato nel più armonioso Amadeus (che è la traduzione latina del greco Theophilus), in ricordo anche del fratello Carl Amadeus, defunto solo tre anni prima. Ma intanto il bambino fu chiamato affettuosamente "Wolferl".
