Mount Ararat
Mount Ararat (, Ararat, ) is the tallest peak in Turkey. This snow-capped, dormant volcanic cone is located in the Iğdır Province, near the northeast corner of Turkey, 16 km (10 miles) west of the Iranian and 32 km (20 miles) south of the Armenian border.Ararat is a stratovolcano, formed of lava flows and pyroclastic ejecta. A smaller 3,896 m (12,782 ft) cone, Little Ararat  (, , ), rises from the same base, southeast of the main peak sometimes called in , or in . The lava plateau stretches out between the two pinnacles. The last activity on the mountain was a major earthquake in July 1840 centered around the Ahora Gorge, a northeast trending chasm that drops 1,825 metres (6,000 ft) from the top of the mountain.

Ararat
Der Berg Ararat, auch Großer Ararat (aus dem Hebräischen, entstanden aus assyrisch Urartutürkisch Büyük Ağrı Dağı, armenisch Մասիս / Masis oder Արարատ / Ararat, kurdisch Çiyayê Agirî) genannt, ist ein ruhender Vulkan im Ararathochland in der östlichen Türkei nahe der Grenze zu Armenien und dem Iran. Er ist mit 5.165 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel der höchste Berg der Türkei. Der kurdische Name, Çiyayê Agirî, bedeutet „der feurige Berg“ (agir = Feuer, çiya = Berg).

Il monte Ararat (Ağrı Dağı in turco, Արարատ in armeno: Agirî in curdo, آرارات in persiano) è il più alto della Turchia (5.165 m s.l.m.) si trova nella Turchia orientale sul confine tra la regione dell'Agri e dell'Agdir, a 22.5 Km (circa 14 miglia) a Nord di Dogubeyazit (o Dogubayazit) (39°40'60.00"N 44°17'60.00"E), nel territorio che storicamente aveva fatto parte dell'Armenia.
