Mitteleuropa (Central/Middle Europe) is a German term approximately equal to Central Europe. Mitteleuropa oder Zentraleuropa bezeichnet eine Region in Europa zwischen Westeuropa, Osteuropa, Südosteuropa, Südeuropa und Nordeuropa. Es gibt wenig deutliche geographische Kriterien, die zur Abgrenzung herangezogen werden könnten.Der Begriff „Mitteleuropa“ kann auch politisch, kulturhistorisch oder naturräumlich definiert werden. Die Auffassung des Begriffes Mitteleuropa unterliegt auch dem geschichtlichen und politischen Wandel. Mitteleuropa ist daher derzeit nicht eindeutig zu definieren. Seit dem Ende des Kalten Krieges kommt der Definition Mitteleuropas erneut Aufmerksamkeit zu.

Mitteleuropa - niemieckie słowo oznaczające Europę Środkową, mające znaczenie geograficzne, czasem używane także w innych językach i mające kilka różnych znaczeń. Oznacza także jako pojęcie historyczne, polityczny program będący celem wojennym Niemiec podczas I wojny światowej, zakładający dominację Cesarstwa Niemieckiego nad Europą Środkową i jej całkowitą eksploatację przez Niemcy, aneksję terytoriów zamieszkanych w większości przez ludność nie-niemiecką oraz ich germanizację.

L'Europa Centrale è una regione dell'Europa compresa tra l'Europa Occidentale e l'Europa Orientale, con a sud i Balcani. Non esistono dei precisi confini, piuttosto, sono regioni che dividono una storia, di opposizione all'est rappresentato dall'Impero Ottomano e la Russia Imperiale, e, almeno fino alla Prima guerra mondiale, di distinzione dall'ovest in quanto conservatori opposti alle moderne idee liberali, acquisite con il commercio sui mari e infine la Rivoluzione Francese. Dopo la Prima guerra mondiale, e ancor più dopo la Seconda, queste idee moderne in generale, e la democrazia liberale, attecchirono presto in Austria e in Germania.
