Minnesota

(pronounced: ) is a state located in the Midwestern region of the United States. The 12th-largest state by area in the U.S., it is the 21st most populous, with just over five million residents. Minnesota was carved out of the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory and admitted to the Union as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858. The state is known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", and those lakes and the other waters for which the state is named, together with state and national forests and parks, offer residents and tourists a vigorous outdoor lifestyle.

Minnesota [] (Abk.: MN oder Minn.) ist der 32. Bundesstaat der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika und liegt im Norden des Landes an der Grenze zu Kanada. Der zwölftgrößte Bundesstaat der USA entstand 1858 aus dem östlichen Teil des Minnesota Territory und einem kleinen Teil des Wisconsin Territory. Aufgrund der vielen Seen wird Minnesota auch „Land der 10.000 Seen“ genannt.

Minnesota - stan w północnej części Stanów Zjednoczonych, przy granicy z Kanadą. Dwunasty pod względem wielkości i dwudziesty pierwszy pod względem liczby ludności stan USA, liczący ponad 5 milionów mieszkańców. Minnesota nazywana jest "Krainą 10.000 jezior". Niemal 60% mieszkańców stanu zamieszkuje aglomerację Minneapolis-Saint Paul, znane jako Twin Cities (Bliźniacze Miasta), centrum komunikacyjne, biznesowe i przemysłowe oraz baza znanej na całym świecie społeczności artystycznej. Reszta stanu, zwana "Wielką Minnesotą" to teren prerii, obecnie szeroko zagospodarowanych jako obszary rolnicze, lasów liściastych na wschodzie oraz północnych, słabo zaludnionych lasów tajgi. Pokutuje przekonanie, że stan ten zamieszkany jest przez białych Amerykanów pochodzenia skandynawskiego i niemieckiego. Jest w tym trochę prawdy, choć w ostatnich latach różnorodność etniczna Minnesoty znacznie wzrosła.

Il Minnesota è il trentaduesimo stato degli USA (ne è entrato a far parte l'11 maggio 1858) conta (censimento 2000) una popolazione di 4.919.479 abitanti; la capitale è Saint Paul (287.151) ma la città più popolosa è Minneapolis (382.618 abitanti); altri centri rilevanti sono Duluth, Rochester e Bloomington. La superficie è di 225.181 km², gran parte dei quali occupati dall'acqua di laghi e fiumi, inclusa una parte del Lago Superiore.
