Der Ausdruck Mille Collines (franz.: "Tausend Hügel") wird häufig zur Charakterisierung Ruandas verwendet, das ein überaus hügeliges Land ist - Pays des Mille Collines wurde so fast zum Synonym für Ruanda. Der Ausdruck Mille Collines wurde dann auch auf andere Einrichtungen in Ruanda übertragen, etwa Radio-Télévision Libre des Mille Collines oder das Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali.
