Mike Wengren is a
drummer from
Chicago, Illinois, best known for his work with the band
Disturbed. He is one of the founding members of the band, which was formed in
1997.Born and raised in Chicago, Mike has been playing drums since around the age of 10, when he took some lessons for about a month but didn’t begin to take his drumming seriously until the age of 15. He has been quoted as saying that
Tommy Lee (of
Mötley Crüe),
Lars Ulrich of
Metallica,
Dave Lombardo of
Slayer,
Vinnie Paul (of
Pantera),
Racer X, and
Testament were his strongest influences when he began drumming.
