Michelangelo Antonioni
Michelangelo Antonioni, Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI (29 September 1912 – 30 July 2007) was an Italian modernist film director, screenwriter, editor, and short story writer. Best known for his "trilogy on modernity and its discontents"—L'Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961), and Eclipse (1962)—Antonioni "redefined the concept of narrative cinema" and challenged traditional approaches to storytelling, realism, drama, and the world at large. He produced "enigmatic and intricate mood pieces" and rejected action in favor of contemplation, focusing on image and design over character and story. His films defined a "cinema of possibilities".

Michelangelo Antonioni
Michelangelo Antonioni (ur. 29 września 1912 r. w Ferrarze, zm. 30 lipca 2007 r. w Rzymie) – włoski reżyser i scenarzysta filmowy.
Początkowo zajmował się filmem dokumentalnym, by w latach 50. wytworzyć własny styl ekspresji filmowej w filmie fabularnym. Był jednym z najwybitniejszych i najciekawszych twórców filmowych lat 60. XX wieku. W 1950 roku pokazał swój debiutancki film "Kronika pewnej miłości". W 1955 roku zdobył nagrodę na festiwalu w Wenecji za film "Przyjaciółki"; w roku 1960 Nagrodę Krytyków na festiwalu w Cannes za trylogię "Przygoda"; w 1961 nagrodę Srebrnego Niedźwiedzia na festiwalu w Berlinie Zachodnim za film "Noc". Najbardziej znanym filmem Antonioniego jest "Powiększenie", za które w 1967 roku otrzymał Złotą Palmę na festiwalu w Cannes. W latach 70. nakręcił filmy "Chiny" i "Zawód reporter". Później tworzył sporadycznie, a jego filmy nie zyskiwały ogólnego uznania. W roku 1995 Antonioni otrzymał Oscara za całokształt twórczości.
