Michael Wigler
Michael H. Wigler (b. 1947 in New York) is an American molecular biologist who is best known for being one of the first scientists to identify and clone human oncogenes. He has directed a laboratory at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory since 1978 and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wigler has developed techniques that have impinged upon an unusually broad range of disciplines, from biotechnology (the co-transfection of genes patent with Richard Axel) to chemistry (he along with chemists at Columbia University was a pioneer in combinatorial chemistry) to genetics (Representational Difference Analysis and ROMA).
