Mexico (; , ), officially the United Mexican States , is a federal constitutional republic in North America. It is bordered on the north by the United States of America; on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Covering almost two million square kilometres (over 760,000 sq mi), Mexico is the fifth largest country in the Americas by total area and the thirteenth largest independent nation in the world. With an estimated population of over 113 million, it is the eleventh most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country. Mexico is a federation comprising thirty-one states and a Federal District, the capital city.

Mexico (en espagnol ) est la capitale et la ville la plus peuplée du Mexique. Elle est la ville la plus peuplée d'Amérique. Elle est située dans le centre du pays sur un plateau d’une altitude de 2250 mètres, entouré de sommets qui le surplombent à plus de 5000 mètres au-dessus du niveau moyen de la mer. Elle est souvent désignée par l'appellation officielle (, District Fédéral) pour éviter la confusion avec le pays ou l'État de Mexico dont elle ne fait d'ailleurs pas partie.

Meksyk (hiszp. Ciudad de México, nah. Tenochtitlán, ang. Mexico City) - stolica Meksyku, położona na wyżynie leżącej w środkowej części kraju. Zajmuje powierzchnię 1479 km². Populacja miasta wynosi 8,720,916 mieszkańców, natomiast obszar metropolitarny zamieszkuje 19,231,829 osób (2005 r.). Szacuje się, że całe megalopolis liczy ok 22-25 mln mieszkańców i jest uznawana za trzecią, po Tokio i Seulu aglomerację miejską świata. Region miasta odznacza się także jednym z największych i najszybszych przyrostów liczby ludności.
