The Madrid Metro is the large metro system serving the city of Madrid. It is one of the largest metro systems in the world, which is especially remarkable considering Madrid's population of approximately 3.5 million (Madrid city) to 6 million (metropolitan area). In fact, it is among the top 10 longest metros in the world, and the second in Europe after London, though Madrid is approximately the twenty fifth most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is also one of many fast growing systems in the world, rivaled, among many others, by the Seoul Metro or the Beijing Subway; the round of expansions completed in spring 2007 increased its length to 317 km, making it the third largest in the world after London and New York. .

Le métro de Madrid, capitale de l'Espagne qui comptait en 2006 environ habitants, dispose de l'un des réseaux les plus étendus d'Europe. Il a connu ces dernières décennies un développement très rapide, dépassé seulement par celui de Séoul ; les derniers travaux, achevés courant 2003, ont porté sa longueur à 227 kilomètres. Une ligne additionnelle de 44 km doit s'ouvrir en 2007, ainsi que 30 km de ligne légère qui desserviront la région ouest de l'agglomération madrilène.

Die Metro Madrid ist die U-Bahn der spanischen Hauptstadt Madrid. Das 282,4 Kilometer lange Streckennetz erschließt mit 228 Stationen nicht nur die Stadt selbst, sondern auch mehrere Vororte. Nach der im Mai 2007 abgeschlossenen Erweiterung ist die Madrider Metro derzeit die weltweit sechstlängste U-Bahn sowie nach der London Underground und der Metro Moskau die drittlängste in Europa. Hinsichtlich der Zahl der Stationen wird sie jetzt nur noch von der New York City Subway übertroffen. Neben der U-Bahn Seoul gilt sie als die am schnellsten expandierende U-Bahn der Welt. Allein seit 1994 hat sich die Länge des Streckennetzes mehr als verdoppelt.

Metro madryckie jest trzecią w Europie (po metrze w Londynie (1863) i Budapeszcie (1896)) oraz jedną z największych tego typu budowli na świecie. Posiada 279 stacji i 15 linii (oraz podziemną kolejkę R, będącą adekwatną częścią madryckiego metra, łączącą stacje Opera i Principe Pio). W 2007 r. metro w Madrycie miało już łącznie prawie 310 km. długości.
