Metró was a very famous Hungarian rock band in the 1960s and early 1970s. When the Hungarian government cracked down on rock music that they considered subversive, Metró left the music industry. Band leader Zorán Sztevanovity has pursued an active solo career till now and on.

The Paris Métro (French: Métro de Paris) is the rapid transit system in Paris, France. It includes 16 lines, primarily underground, with a total route length of 213 km (133 miles), with 298 stations (382 stops) (245 of these are within the 41 square miles of the City of Paris - the most dense provision of subway stations in the world). Lines are identified by numbers from 1 to 14, with two minor lines, 3bis and 7bis, which were formerly part of their parent line and only later became independent. The system, which has become one of the symbols of Paris, is notable for the density of its network in central Paris, and for its homogeneous architectural style, influenced by Art Nouveau. The system was expanded later by an additional express network known as the RER to reach further suburbs.

The São Paulo Metro (Portuguese: Metropolitano de São Paulo, commonly called Metrô) is the city of São Paulo's rapid transit system. The first of such systems in Brazil, it began operations in 1974. Although São Paulo is one of the largest cities in the world, with a population of 19 million (11 million city proper), its metro system is relatively small (61 kilometers of track) when compared to its European or North American counterparts.

Le métro de Paris est un des systèmes de transport en commun desservant la ville de Paris (France) et son agglomération. Il comporte 16 lignes en site propre, essentiellement souterraines, totalisant 214 kilomètres de voies. Devenu un des symboles de Paris, il se caractérise par la densité de son réseau au cœur de Paris et par son style architectural homogène influencé par l’Art nouveau. La première ligne du métro de Paris a été construite à l'approche de l’Exposition universelle de 1900. Elle sera inaugurée quelques mois après le début de l'exposition. Le réseau s’est ensuite rapidement densifié dans Paris intra muros jusqu’à la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Après une pause durant les « décennies voitures » (1950-1970), plusieurs lignes existantes ont été prolongées en proche banlieue. Les choix effectués à sa conception (faibles distances entre les stations, capacité réduite des rames) limitent aujourd’hui les possibilités d’extension du réseau. Le métro de Paris a cependant inauguré à la fin du siècle dernier une nouvelle ligne entièrement automatisée, la  ligne 14, destinée notamment à soulager la ligne A du RER.

Die Pariser Métro ist das U-Bahnnetz der französischen Hauptstadt und ist nach London (1863), Glasgow und Budapest (beide 1896) die viertälteste U-Bahn Europas. Die erste Métrolinie wurde am 19. Juli 1900 anlässlich der Weltausstellung eröffnet. Das Pariser U-Bahnnetz ist mit 212,5 km Gesamtlänge eines der größten Netze der Welt. Charakteristisch sind die enge Netzdichte innerhalb der Stadt sowie die geringen Abstände zwischen den einzelnen Stationen – im Schnitt rund 500m.

Die U-Bahn, auch Untergrundbahn oder Metro genannt, ist ein zu den Bahnen gehöriges öffentliches Nahverkehrsmittel (ÖPNV, Stadtverkehr) ähnlich der S-, der Straßen- oder der Stadtbahn (zusammengefasst als Schienenpersonennahverkehr). Auch wenn das U eigentlich eine Abkürzung für Untergrund ist, verkehren viele U-Bahnen auch oberirdisch; aus diesem Grund wird das U in Deutschland mitunter auch als unabhängig interpretiert, handelt es sich doch um Schienenverkehrssysteme, die als eigenständige Systeme kreuzungsfrei und unabhängig von anderen städtischen Verkehrssystemen konzipiert sind.

Metro to potoczne określenie (wywodzące się od ang. Metropolitan Railway) szybkiej kolei miejskiej z niezależnym, całkowicie lub częściowo podziemnym korytarzem. Metro jest koleją elektryczną zdolną przewozić duże potoki pasażerów. Charakteryzuje się wagonami rozwijającymi wysoką prędkość i osiągającymi duże przyspieszenia, jeżdżącymi pojedynczo lub w układach wielowagonowych na oddzielnych torach, korytarzami wydzielonymi od pojazdów innego typu ruchu i od ruchu pieszego, specjalną sygnalizacją, oraz wysokimi peronami. W 15 starych krajach UE istnieje obecnie przeszło 30 systemów metra, a ostatnie inwestycje to systemy w: Tuluzie (1993), Neapolu (1995), Bilbao (1997), Atenach (1998), Katanii (1999), Kopenhadze (październik 2002), Porto (grudzień 2002) i Turynie (2005).

Paryskie metro - pierwsza linia została otwarta w 1900 r. Jego pełna nazwa – Chemin de Fer Métropolitain (pl. Metropolitalna kolej żelazna), w praktyce używa się skrótu Métropolitain lub po prostu Métro. Sieć paryskiego metra ma długość 221,6 km, posiada 380 stacji (87 na których przecinają się linie). W 2004 roku skorzystało z niego 1,336 miliarda pasażerów.

Métro de Paris è il nome del sistema della metropolitana di Parigi. Inizialmente chiamato Chemin de Fer Métropolitain ("Ferrovia Metropolitana"), divenne poi Métropolitain, e quindi rapidamente abbreviato in Métro. La sua realizzazione, nonché l'entrata in funzione, furono direttamente collegati agli imponenti lavori pubblici realizzati a Parigi in occasione della Esposizione Universale tenutasi in città nel 1900.Il sistema della metropolitana parigina è attualmente composto da 16 linee (14 di cui due doppie) per una lunghezza complessiva di 200 chilometri, con 297 stazioni (nel 2003) ed è interamente gestito dalla RATP. Copre la totalità della città di Parigi e le periferie vicine. È la terza rete metropolitana per estensione nell'Europa occidentale, dopo la Metropolitana di Londra e la Metropolitana di Madrid, ma la prima se si considerano anche le 5 linee della Réseau express régional o RER (Rete espressa regionale).
