Methyl cellulose
Methyl cellulose (or methylcellulose) is a chemical compound derived from cellulose. It is a hydrophilic white powder in pure form and dissolves in cold (but not in hot) water, forming a clear viscous solution or gel. It is sold under a variety of trade names and is used as a thickener and emulsifier in various food and cosmetic products, and also as a treatment of constipation. Like cellulose, it is not digestible, not toxic, and not an allergen.

Methylcellulose
Methylcellulose (fachsprachlich, standardsprachlich: Methylzellulose) ist eine chemische Verbindung, die von Cellulose abgeleitet ist; chemisch handelt es sich um einen Celluloseether mit ähnlicher Bedeutung wie Carboxymethylcellulose. Sie ist ein hydrophiles weißes Pulver und löst sich in kaltem (aber nicht in heißem) Wasser auf und bildet dabei eine zähflüssige Lösung oder ein Gel.

Metyloceluloza
Metyloceluloza (eter metylowy celulozy, MC) – hydrofilowy, rozpuszczalny szczególnie dobrze w zimnej wodzie polimer o średniej masie cząsteczkowej między 20 000 a 40 0000 Da, pochodna celulozy.
Tworzy w wodzie roztwory koloidalne o wysokiej lepkości. Ze względu na to, oraz na niską reaktywność i nietoksyczność, metyloceluloza powszechnie stosowana jako zagęszczacz i emulgator w przemyśle spożywczym (E461) oraz produkcji artykułów kosmetycznych. Wykorzystywana jest także między innymi w przemyśle budowlanym, produkcji papieru i tekstyliów, mikrobiologii, oraz do uzyskiwania efektów specjalnych (śluzy i mazie) na potrzeby filmów (ang. slime).
