Greek mythology, Medea (Greek: , "virility" ) was the daughter of
King Aeëtes of
Colchis (now a territory of modern
Georgia), niece of
Circe, and later wife to
Jason. In the play
Medea, Jason leaves Medea when
Creon, King of
Corinth offers him his daughter.The myths involving Jason also invoke Medea. These have been interpreted by specialists, principally in the past, as part of a class of myths that tell how the Hellenes of the distant heroic age, before the
Trojan War, faced the challenges of the pre-Greek "
Pelasgian" cultures of mainland Greece, and the Aegean and Anatolia.

Heracles, are all "liminal" figures, poised on the threshold between the old world of shamans,
chthonic earth deities, archaic matriarchies, and the Great Goddess and the new

Medea
Medea (griech. Μήδεια Medeia) ist eine Frauengestalt der
griechischen Mythologie. In den älteren Versionen des Mythos wird Medea zumeist als selbstbewusste und heilkundige Frau dargestellt.
Euripides gestaltete den Mythos um. In seiner Fassung handelt Medea aus Eifersucht und rächt sich durch die Ermordung ihrer gemeinsamen Kinder an ihrem untreuen Ehemann.
