Electronvolt
The electronvolt (symbol eV) is a unit of
energy. In theoretical physics, where distinctions between mass and energy are not concrete, it is often used also as a unit of mass (AAAS Science journal, 2006). It is the amount of
kinetic energy gained by a single unbound
electron when it passes through an
electrostatic potential difference of one
volt,
in vacuo. In other words, it is equal to one volt (1
volt = 1
joule per
coulomb) times the (unsigned)
charge of a single electron. The one-word spelling is the modern recommendation, although the use of the earlier electron volt still exists.

Carol Plantamura, Ivan Vandor, and Jon Phetteplace.They were early experimenters with the use of synthesizers to transform sounds: a 1967 concert in Berlin included a performance of
John Cage's Solo for Voice 2 with Plantamura's voice transformed through a
Moog synthesizer. They also used such "non-musical" objects as amplified panes of glass and
olive oil cans, and their performances achieved notoriety in Italy for their ability to generate riots.
