Matt Heafy

Matthew Kiichi Heafy (born January 26, 1986 in Iwakuni, Japan) also known as Matt Heafy is the vocalist and guitarist for the band Trivium. He is the main songwriter in the band, and is also responsible for composing a lot of the music. His father, Brian Heafy, is white while his mother, Yoshiko Heafy, is of Asian descent, they met while Brian was serving in the military. Heafy's father works as a co-manager of the band alongside Justin Arcangel.

Matt Heafy (ur. 26 stycznia 1986 w Iwakuni w Japonii) - wokalista i gitarzysta solowy, jeden z założycieli grupy Trivium. Udziela się także w zespole Capharnaum. W wieku 16 lat otrzymał nagrodę MTV dla najlepszego gitarzysty metalowego. Na gali Metal Hammer Golden God Awards 2006 zdobył nagrodę Golden God Award. W ostatnim albumie zespołu Trivium The Crusade Matt używał głównie czystego wokalu, zbliżonego do wokalu Jamesa Hetfield'a z Metalliki. W jednym z wywiadów Matt oznajmił, że na nowym albumie będzie więcej growlu takiego jakiego używał nagrywając Ember To Inferno czy Ascendenacy. Matt pomimo iż jest gitarzystą rytmicznym gra w prawie wszystkich utworach przemiennie z Corey'em partie solowe. Używa głównie techniki "Arpeggio".

Biografia Matt iniziò a suonare chitarra all'età di 12 anni grazie al padre, Brian Heafy, che lavorava come co-manager di alcune band. Il ragazzo si applicò con straordinario impegno lavorando sul proprio stile molte ore al giorno e nel 2000 fu ingaggiato dai Trivium dopo l'abbandono del precedente cantante Brad Lewter. Il suo debutto nella band iniziò con la composizione dei testi e delle note delle canzoni Fugue, Demon, Requiem e Sworn e proseguì con la co-produzione degli album Ember to Inferno, Ascendancy e The Crusade. All'età di soli 20 anni, Matt ha ottenuto un incredibile successo; infatti i Trivium ottennero presto, dopo il suo arrivo, grande successo in Nord America e in Gran Bretagna e un buon numero di fans anche in Europa.
