Manchester. Manchester City Centre is the
central business district of both
Manchester and
Greater Manchester,
England. Extensively redeveloped over the past decade since the
1996 IRA bombing, Manchester City Centre lies directly east of
Salford, with the
River Irwell acting as a boundary between the two.As well as much retail and commercial development, there has been a large increase in property development and there are now over 5,000 residential properties in the City Centre, mostly in the form of apartments. Well over half of these have been built since 1996. Some of the most notable developments are
No. 1 Deansgate and
Urban Splash. The prices of these homes has also risen and the first £2 million penthouse was sold in 2002 and due to the promotion, witnessed in other cities in England, of inner city living.
