Malines

Mechelen (English traditional name, Mechlin) is a Dutch-speaking city and municipality in the province of Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium. The municipality comprises the city of Mechelen proper, some quarters at its outskirts, the hamlets of Nekkerspoel (adjacent) and Battel (a few kilometers away), as well as the villages of Walem, Heffen, Leest, Hombeek, and Muizen. The Dijle flows through the city, hence the term 'Dijlestad' (Dijle City).

Malines (Mechelen in neerlandese, Mellina in italiano arcaico, sebbene sia maggiormente utilizzato il toponimo francese Malines) è una città belga di circa 80.000 nelle Fiandre (provincia di Anversa), situata su diversi rami del fiume Dyle.È sede arcivescovile cattolica (arcidiocesi di Malines-Bruxelles) ed è la sede primaziale del Belgio.Fu capitale dei Paesi Bassi tra il 1506 e il 1530, in quanto la governatrice Margherita d'Austria (sorella di Carlo V) vi pose la sua residenza.
