The outstanding values of the Malheur River's North Fork are its scenery and geology. Flowing from a mosiac of lodgepole pine, meadow/wetland areas, and old-growth pine, the river enters a steep, rugged canyon at its lower end. Trout fishing, livestock grazing, and big game hunting are important activities.
