Magnetic Particle Inspection

Magnetic particle inspection processes are non-destructive methods for the detection of defects in ferrous materials. They make use of an externally applied magnetic field or DC current through the material, and the principle that the magnetic susceptibility of a defect is markedly poorer (the magnetic resistance is greater) than that of the surrounding material.

בדיקה באמצעות חלקיקים מגנטיים היא אחת משיטות הבדיקה שאינן הורסות את האובייקט הנבדק. מטרתה לאתר סדקים או אי רציפויות ביציקות, חישולים, ריתוכים ודפנות מכלים. הבדיקה מתבצעת באמצעות מגנוט החלק הנבדק, וחשיפת אי רציפויות בחומר על ידי חלקיקים מגנטיים הנמשכים אליהן ומסמנים אותן. הצורך במגנוט מגביל את הבדיקה לפריטים מחומרים פרומגנטיים בלבד.השיטה מתבססת על עקרון פריצת (דליפת) שטף מגנטי. על פי עקרון זה, כאשר יש אי רציפות בחומר ממוגנט (למשל אם נוצר בו סדק בפני השטח או מעט מתחת לפני השטח) ייווצרו שני קטבים מגנטיים חדשים, בעלי משיכה מגנטית גבוהה עקב קרבתם זה לזה, ואליהם יימשכו חלקיקים מגנטיים המפוזרים על פני החלק הנבדק.
