Magma

Magma (Plurals: magmas and magmata) is molten rock located beneath the surface of the Earth (or any other terrestrial planet) that often collects in a magma chamber. Magma may contain suspended crystals and gas bubbles. By definition, all igneous rock are formed from magma. Magma is a complex high-temperature fluid substance. Temperatures of most magmas are in the range 700°C to 1300°C, but very rare carbonatite melts may be as cool as 600°C, and komatiite melts may have been as hot at 1600°C. Most are silicate solutions. It is capable of intrusion into adjacent rocks or of extrusion onto the surface as lava or ejected explosively as tephra to form pyroclastic rock.

Le magma est de la roche en fusion contenant des gaz dissous. Il se forme à haute température et sous haute pression par fusion partielle de la croûte terrestre ou du manteau. Le magma, moins dense que la roche solide de la lithosphère, est entraîné vers le haut par la poussée d'Archimède.

Magma (griechisch: „geknetete Masse“) heißt die Masse aus Gesteinsschmelze, die in Teilen des oberen Erdmantels und der tieferen Erdkruste vorkommt. Die Fließfähigkeit des Magmas ist die Ursache des Vulkanismus (siehe auch Vulkan) und hat eine große Bedeutung für die Gesteinsbildung, da sich aus erstarrendem Magma Gesteine, die Magmatite oder Tiefengesteine, bilden. Bei diesen unterscheidet man Plutonite, wenn das Magma im Erdinneren langsam abkühlt und daher Kristalle bilden kann, und Vulkanite, wenn das Magma beim Austritt an die Erdoberfläche (zum Beispiel als Lava oder in Form von Pyroklasten) schnell abkühlt. Zu den Plutoniten zählt zum Beispiel der Granit, zu den Vulkaniten der Basalt.

Magma ( „gęsta maść”) – gorąca, stopiona masa krzemianów i glinokrzemianów z domieszkami tlenków i siarczków, z dużą ilością wody i gazów, znajdująca się w głębi skorupy ziemskiej.Magma może przeciskać się przez warstwy skalne tworząc intruzje plutoniczne oraz wydobywać się na powierzchnię Ziemi jako lawa. Z krzepnącej magmy/lawy powstają skały magmowe – plutoniczne i wulkaniczne. Skały zastygłe blisko powierzchni ziemi nazywane są subwulkanicznymi.
