Machete

The machete (International Phonetic Alphabet: ) is a large cleaver-like cutting tool. The blade is typically 50–60  cm (18–24  in) long, usually with a thin blade under 3mm thick. In the English language, an equivalent term is matchet (though the name 'machete' enjoys greater currency).The machete is normally used to cut through thick vegetation such as sugar cane or jungle undergrowth but it can also be used as an offensive weapon. There are many specialized designs for different regions, tasks, and budgets. In Central America it is not uncommon to see a machete being used for such household tasks as cutting large foodstuffs into pieces — much as a cleaver is used — or to perform crude cutting tasks such as making simple wooden handles for other tools.

Machete est à l'origine une bande-annonce fictive réalisée par Robert Rodriguez diffusée au début du film Planet Terror. Elle fait partie d'un ensemble de bandes-annonces commandées par Quentin Tarantino à divers réalisateurs qu'il affectionne (dont Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, Edgar Wright). L'anedocte raconte que Tarantino aurait été si satisfait de cette bande-annonce qu'il aurait encouragé son ami Rodriguez à réaliser le film entier. Le long métrage devrait sortir directement en DVD en 2008 du fait de l'échec en salle du dyptique Grindhouse (11.5M$ le premier week-end d'exploitation aux USA). Une machette est une sorte de long couteau à lame épaisse longue de 40 cm montée sur un manche court. On peut aussi la définir comme un sabre à bout rond donc n'étant qu'un outil ou une arme de taille.

Die Machete (Lehnwort aus dem Spanischen) ist ein starkes, ca. 3 mm dickes Messer. Sie ähnelt in der Form dem byzantinischen Säbel Machaira, wobei eine etymologische Verbindung nur vermutet werden kann. Im Spanischen ist die Aussprache wie "Matschete" richtig.

Premiera obrazu planowana jest na 2008 rok.Film powstał na podstawie początkowo fałszywego trailera między dwoma częściami filmu Grindhouse. Idea Machete tak spodobała się Robertowi Rodriguezowi, że postanowił nakręcić cały film o Meksykańskim imigrancie nazywanym Machete dlatego, ze najczęściej posługuje się maczetą.

Maczeta - rodzaj długiego, bardzo szerokiego noża podobnego do tasaka, używanego w Ameryce Płd. do wyrąbywania ścieżek w tropikalnej dżungli, a także na plantacjach do ścinania trzciny cukrowej. Wywodzi się najprawdopodobniej od sztyletu  Maczeta w XIX wieku w Gwatemali służyła również do wykonywania dekapitacji sądowej.

Il machete è uno strumento da taglio metallico, con impugnatura e lama dritta a un solo taglio, lievemente ricurvo. Viene usato per disboscare ma può essere considerata anche un'arma bianca. Fu usata massicciamente in Ruanda dalle milizie hutu per sterminare i tutsi durante la guerra civile del 1994. Nella bandiera dell'Angola è disegnato un machete. Angola è l'unico paese che possiede una bandiera con un machete.
