The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. These preferences were extrapolated from the typological theories proposed by Carl Gustav Jung and first published in his 1921 book Psychological Types (English edition, 1923).

Dans le cadre de la Psychologie analytique, ont été amenés des éléments théoriques dont l'existence des "types psychologiques". Cette découverte fut l'oeuvre dans les années 1930 de Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961), psychiatre suisse en lien, puis en profond désaccord avec Freud.

MBTI (ang. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) - wskaźnik psychologiczny, służący do określenia typu osobowości. Jest rozszerzoną koncepcją Carla Junga, który dzielił ludzi na 8 typów:

• według źródła, z którego czerpią energię na Introwertyków (I) i Ekstrawertyków (E)
• według sposobu, w jaki zbierają informacje o świecie na Intuicjonistów (N), którzy polegają na instynkcie i na Percepcjonistów (ang. Sensing - S), którzy ufają swoim zmysłom
• według sposobu, w jaki podejmują decyzje na Myślicieli (ang. Thinking - T), którzy kierują się logiką i na Uczuciowców (ang. Feeling - F), którzy działają na podstawie swojego subiektywnego systemu wartości.
