MARS

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun in the Solar System. The planet is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. It is also referred to as the "Red Planet" because of its reddish appearance as seen from Earth.A terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, Mars has surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the volcanoes, valleys, deserts and polar ice caps of Earth. It is the site of Olympus Mons, the highest known mountain in the solar system, and of Valles Marineris, the largest canyon. In addition to its geographical features, Mars’ rotational period and seasonal cycles are likewise similar to those of Earth.

MARS ist ein von D. Coppersmith bei IBM entwickelter Verschlüsselungsalgorithmus, der als Kandidat für den Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, FIPS/PUBS-197) vorgelegt wurde. Der Algorithmus schaffte es bis in die finale Runde des Auswahlverfahrens und gilt nach heutigem Erkenntnisstand als sicher. MARS scheint sogar eine sicherere Architektur als Rijndael zu haben. (MARS wurde vom National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) zusammen mit den Verschlüsselungsalgorithmen  Serpent und Twofish als hoch-sicher eingestuft, während Rijndael "nur" als hinreichend-sicher eingestuft wurde. MARS wurde hinsichtlich seiner Sicherheit lediglich wegen seiner Komplexität, die eine Sicherheitsanalyse erschwert, kritisiert. Rijndael wurde vor allem wegen seiner mathematischen Struktur, die möglicherweise zu Angriffen führen könnte, kritisiert.) Der Geschwindigkeitsvorteil Rijndaels gegenüber den anderen Finalisten - sowohl als Hardware- als auch als Software-Implementierung - dürfte bei der Entscheidung, ausgerechnet Rijndael zum AES-Standard zu erklären, letztlich den Ausschlag gegeben haben.

Der Mars ist, von der Sonne aus gesehen, der vierte Planet in unserem Sonnensystem und der äußere Nachbar unserer Erde. Er zählt zu den erdähnlichen (terrestrischen) Planeten. Wegen seiner orange- bis blutroten Farbe wurde er nach dem römischen Kriegsgott Mars benannt und wird oft auch als der Rote Planet bezeichnet. Diese Färbung geht auf Eisen(III)-oxid-Staub (Rost) zurück, der sich auf der Oberfläche und in der Atmosphäre verteilt hat. Somit ist der Mars ein „rostiger“ Planet.

Mars – czwarta według oddalenia od Słońca planeta Układu Słonecznego. Nazwa planety pochodzi od imienia rzymskiego boga wojny – Marsa. Zawdzięcza ją swej barwie, która przy obserwacji wydaje się być rdzawo-czerwona i kojarzyła się starożytnym z pożogą wojenną. Postrzegany odcień wynika stąd, że powierzchnia planety jest pokryta tlenkami żelaza. Mars posiada dwa niewielkie księżyce o nieregularnych kształtach – Fobosa i Deimosa – prawdopodobnie są to dwie planetoidy przechwycone przez pole grawitacyjne planety. Przypuszcza się, że mogło na niej kiedyś powstać życie, jednak obecnie nie ma na to solidnych dowodów.

Marte è il quarto pianeta del sistema solare in ordine di distanza dal Sole. Alcuni suoi parametri orbitali, quali l'inclinazione dell'asse di rotazione e la durata del giorno, lo rendono abbastanza simile alla Terra; a differenza di quest'ultima, tuttavia, Marte presenta un'atmosfera molto rarefatta, temperature medie superficiali più basse (comprese tra -140° e 20°C) e dimensioni assai ridotte (il suo diametro è solo la metà di quello terrestre).
