Münster (Westfalen)

It is located in the northern part of the state and is considered to be the cultural centre of the Westphalia region. It is most well known as the location of the Anabaptist rebellion during the Protestant Reformation and as the site of the signing of the Treaty of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years' War in 1648. Its bishops held temporal power for many centuries.

Münster est une ville allemande située dans le nord du Land de Rhénanie du Nord Westphalie (Mönster en dialecte local). De 1815 à 1945, Münster était la capitale de la province depuis lors disparue de Westphalie (Westfalen). La ville étendue sur 302,91km² et bordée par le Aa se situe entre Osnabrück et Dortmund, au centre de l'actuel province de Münster (Münsterland).

Die kreisfreie Stadt Münster (plattdeutsch: Mönster) in Westfalen ist Sitz des gleichnamigen Regierungsbezirks im Bundesland Nordrhein-Westfalen und zugleich Oberzentrum des Münsterlandes. Von 1815 bis 1946 war Münster Hauptstadt der damaligen preußischen Provinz Westfalen. Die Stadt an der Münsterschen Aa liegt zwischen Dortmund und Osnabrück im Zentrum des Münsterlandes.

Münster (Mönster in basso sassone) è una città extracircondariale tedesca del Nord Reno-Westfalia, capoluogo del distretto governativo (regierungsbezirk) omonimo. Non è una città industriale ma il centro della regione agricola chiamata "Münsterland" situata nella pianura omonima, e possiede una delle più grandi università della Germania: Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (Università di Münster). Inoltre ha un centro storico con molti tesori dell'arte.
