Luminosity classes
The spectral classification of stars are cross-referenced using these. Luminosity classes help to pin-point the position of a star on the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram and are determined by the star's absolute magnitude and spectral type. Class I stars are supergiants, class II stars are bright giants, class III stars are giants, class IV are subgiants and class V are dwarfs (main sequence stars).
