Low Countries

The Low Countries, the historical region of de Nederlanden, are the countries on low-lying land around the delta of the Rhine, Scheldt, and Meuse (Maas) rivers. The term is more appropriate to the era of the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern Europe when strong centrally governed nations were aborning and territorial governance was at the hand of a noble or noble house.

Les Pays-Bas ou les Pays-Bas belgiques (Lage Landen ou Nederlanden en néerlandais, Low Countries en anglais) sont une région historique d'Europe occidentale partageant une culture et une histoire commune. Le terme est surtout approprié pour les périodes du Moyen Âge et des Temps Modernes quand la région était plus ou moins unifiée politiquement. Aujourd'hui, le Benelux est ce qui s'en rapproche le plus.

Niderlandy - historyczna nazwa nizinnych terenów u ujścia Renu, Mozy i Skaldy do Morza Północnego, z czasem rozciągnięta również na Ardeny i sąsiednie wyżyny (dzisiejsza Belgia, Holandia i Luksemburg). Niderlandy były zamieszkane przez ludność germańsko-romańską. Na ich terenie istniały w średniowieczu księstwa i hrabstwa wchodzące w skład Francji (Flandria) lub Niemiec (np. Brabancja, Hainaut, Liège, Holandia, Luksemburg, Geldria).

De Lage Landen of de Nederlanden is een term voor een laaggelegen gebied in West-Europa toen Nederland en België nog niet als aparte staten bestonden. Soms wordt ook Luxemburg bij de Lage Landen gerekend.De term wordt gebruikt in de geschiedschrijving, maar ook vandaag de dag nog wordt het gebruikt als aanduiding voor beide landen samen. M.b.t. de Lage Landen wordt ook wel gesproken over de Nederlanden.

Нижние страны (de Nederlanden) — исторический термин для земель в низменностях европейских рек Рейн, Шельда и Маас. Этот термин относительно редко используется в наше время, потому что он не очень точно соответствует территории современных государств Бельгия, Люксембург (в совокупности прежде были известны как Южные Нидерланды) и собственно Нидерланды. Для совокупности этих трёх стран после Второй Мировой Войны стал обычно использоваться альтернативный термин Бенелюкс.
