Lovebug Starski

Lovebug Starski (born Kevin Smith) is an American rapper and one of the pioneers of the form. His began his career as a record boy in 1971 as hip-hop first appeared in the Bronx area of New York City, and he eventually became a DJ at the club "Disco Fever" in 1978. Starski recorded his first single, "Positive Life", on Tayster record label in 1981. Later, he recorded the soundtrack to the 1986 film Rappin' on Atlantic Records before recording his first album, House Rock, on Epic Records which featured his most successful chart single."Amityville (The House on the Hill)", a parody rap named in reference to the film The Amityville Horror (itself based on alleged supernatural activities surrounding the DeFeo murder case) was a Top 20 hit in the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. in 1986.

Lovebug Starski (* 1957 oder 1958 in der Bronx, bürgerlich Kevin Smith), auch bekannt als Little Starsky, ist ein US-amerikanischer Hip-Hop-DJ und einer der Pioniere des Genres. Auf ihn oder auf seinen ehemaligen Partner DJ Hollywood geht der Ursprung des Begriffs Hip Hop zurück.Wie über viele frühe Hip Hopper ist über ihn relativ wenig bekannt. Er begann mit seiner Karriere als DJ in den späten 1970ern, und wurde 1978 DJ am damals berühmten Club Disco Fever in New York City und im Harlem World, ein Club der damals als Heimat vieler Battle Rapper bekannt war. Seine erste Single, Positive Life erschien in den 1980ern, seine erste LP House Rock danach. Eine Gefängnisstrafe unterbrach seine Karriere zwischenzeitlich, er setzte sie aber noch in den 1980ern fort.
