Lorestan

Lorestān, (Persian and Luri :لرستان ) comprises a province and an historic territory of western Iran amidst the Zagros Mountains. The center of the Lorestan Province is the city of Khorramabad. The famous Falak-ol-Aflak Castle is situated inside this city. Borujerd is another major city. The population of Lorestan is calculated 1,739,644 people in 2006 [1].

Le Lorestan (Louristan, Laristan, ou Lurestan ou Loristan, en Luri: Luristan, en Persan : ) est l'une des 30 provinces de l'Iran et un territoire historique. Elle est située dans l'ouest de l'Iran au milieu des monts Zagros et au sud-ouest de la ville d'Ispahan. La capitale de la province est Khorramabad. Le célèbre Château Falak-ol-Aflak est situé dans cette ville.

Lorestan oder Luristan ist eine der 30 Provinzen des Iran und liegt im Südwesten am Zagrosgebirge. Die Hauptstadt ist Khorramabad, in der sich auch die bekannte Burg Falak-ol-Aflak befindet.In der Provinz leben 1.716.527 Menschen (Volkszählung 2006). Die Fläche der Provinz erstreckt sich auf 28.294 Quadratkilometer. Die Bevölkerungsdichte beträgt 61 Einwohner pro Quadratkilometer.Die größeren Städte sind: Chorramabad, Borudscherd, Aligudarz, Dorud, Kuhdascht, Azna, Delfan, Selseleh, und Pol-e-Dochtar.

Lorestan of Loeristan (in Nieuw-Perzisch: استان لرستان) (betekenis: land van de Lors) is zowel een dunbevolkte en weinig ontwikkelde Iraanse provincie alsmede een historisch gebied in het westelijk deel van Iran, gelegen in het midden van het Zagrosgebergte. Grote en vruchtbare valleien vindt men in het oosten van deze streek. Hoofdplaats is de stad Khorramabad.
