List of countries where French is an official language

The following is a list of the 29 countries where French is an official language: In addition to this, the State of the City of the Vatican lets itself register as a French-speaking country in the international organisations with which it has relationships.

Le français est la langue officielle de nombreux pays indépendants, ainsi que de territoires divers. En dehors de la France et des régions francophones limitrophes (notamment en Belgique romane et en Suisse romande), d’où la langue est originaire, il s’agit pour la plupart d’anciennes colonies ou d’anciens protectorats français et belges.
