List of Solar System bodies formerly regarded as planets

The table below lists Solar System bodies formerly considered to be planets: As large Kuiper belt and scattered disc objects were discovered in the late 1990's and early years of the twenty-first century, a number including Quaoar, Sedna and Eris were heralded in the popular press as the 'tenth planet', however none of these received widespread scientific recognition as such, although Eris has now been classified as a Dwarf Planet.
