Linz

Linz is the third largest city of Austria and capital of the state of Upper Austria (Oberösterreich). It is located in the north centre of Austria, approximately 30 km south of the Czech border, on both sides of the river Danube, the longest river of the European Union and Europe's second-longest (after the Volga). The population of the city proper is 188,968 (2001), and 271,000 in the agglomeration.

Linz ist die Landeshauptstadt des österreichischen Bundeslandes Oberösterreich. Mit 189.343 Einwohnern (Stand: 1. Jänner 2007) ist sie die größte Stadt Oberösterreichs und nach Wien und Graz die drittgrößte Österreichs. Die Stadt ist Zentrum des oberösterreichischen Zentralraums und hat eine Fläche von 96,048 km². Linz ist  Statutarstadt und somit sowohl Gemeinde als auch Bezirk. Nach der Stadt Linz ist der Asteroid (1469) Linzia benannt.

Linz – miasto na prawach powiatu w północno-wschodniej Austrii, nad Dunajem, stolica kraju związkowego Górna Austria. Założone przez Rzymian pod nazwą Lentia. Przemysł metalowy (huta żelaza), maszynowy i chemiczny. Ważny węzeł komunikacyjny. Ośrodek turystyczny (m.in. zamek z XVI-XVII w., barokowe pałace i kościoły, liczne muzea). Liczba ludności: 188 968 (2006).
