Links (web browser)

Links is an open source text and graphic web browser with a pull-down menu system. It renders complex pages (partial HTML 4.0 support including tables and frames, support for multiple character sets, including UTF-8), supports color and monochrome terminals and allows horizontal scrolling.Unlike Lynx and w3m, it is oriented toward visual users who want to retain many typical elements of graphical user interfaces (pop up windows, menus etc.) in a text-only environment. The focus on intuitive usability makes it suitable as a web browser for low-end terminals in libraries, Internet cafes etc.

Links est un navigateur web en mode texte tout comme Lynx mais qui gère les tableaux. Il fonctionne sous Unix, GNU/Linux, OS/2, BeOS et MacOSX. Links sait gérer le protocole SSL depuis la version 0.94pre4.

Links ist ein sehr schneller, textbasierter Web-Browser für die Betriebssysteme Unix und OS/2. Ursprünglich war der Name als Anspielung auf den Textbrowser Lynx gedacht, der im Englischen genau gleich ausgesprochen wird. Links verfügt über die Fähigkeit, Tabellen und Frames darzustellen, was über die Fähigkeiten von Lynx hinausgeht. Er ist für den Einsatz in einem textbasierten Terminal geeignet, kann aber auch mittels Framebuffer in einen Grafikmodus schalten und Bilder darstellen, ohne dass ein X-Server vorhanden ist.

Links is een open source tekst-gebaseerde webbrowser met uitschuifbare keuzemenu's. Het kan complexe webpagina's weergeven (ondersteunt gedeeltelijk HTML 4.0, inclusief tabellen en framesets), ondersteunt kleuren en monochrome computerterminals en bezit de mogelijkheid webpagina's zowel horizontaal als verticaal te verschuiven.
