Limousine

A limousine (or limo) is an unusually long luxury car, traditionally black or white in color (other colors, however, have also been used for limousines, like pink, magenta, or blue). Limousines are most commonly driven by chauffeurs and are often associated with the wealthy.While some limousines are owned by individuals, many are owned by governments to transport senior politicians, by large companies to transport executives, or by broadcasters to transport guests. Most limousines, however, operate as livery vehicles, providing upmarket competition to taxicabs.The word limousine is derived from the name of the French region Limousin, and is associated with the long cloaks once worn by the shepherds there.

Die Stretch-Limousine (umgangssprachlich verkürzt auch „Stretch-Limo“) ist ein verlängertes Automobil. Es wird meistens in den USA als Umbau aus einer oft ohnehin schon zur Oberklasse zählenden Limousine hergestellt, zumeist aus amerikanischer Fertigung (Lincoln der Ford Motor Company, oder Cadillac von General Motors). Jedoch werden auch europäische Autos umgebaut, zumeist Fahrzeuge von Mercedes-Benz oder Rolls Royce.

Limuzyna - luksusowy samochód, tradycyjnie w kolorze czarnym rzadziej w kolorze białym (acz zazwyczaj w autach klas wyższych wybór kolorów jest bardzo bogaty). Nadwozie zamknięte, czterodrzwiowe. Może posiadać sześć, osiem, dziesięć a także kilkanaście miejsc siedzących, czasem dwa lub trzy dodatkowe składane siedzenia. Przednie siedzenie bywają oddzielone od tylnej części kabiny (siedzenia "VIP") szybą lub ścianką - wtedy nazywamy to samochodem dual-cowl. Mianem limuzyny określić można również samochód luksusowy o trójbryłowym nadwoziu typu sedan, takim jak np. BMW serii 7, Mercedes klasy S czy Lincoln w których brak szyby oddzielającej siedzenia przednie od dwóch tylnych miejsc.

Per Limousine si intende un particolare tipo di configurazione di carrozzeria per autovetture, da sempre utilizzata per modelli di alto prestigio. Il termine deriva dal nome della regione francese del Limosino, per via della lunghezza della vettura, paragonabile a quella dei mantelli un tempo indossati dai pastori locali.
