Lille

Lille is the main city of France's fourth largest metropolitan area (consisting of Lille, Roubaix, Tourcoing and their suburbs). It is located to the country's north, on the Deûle River, near the border with Belgium. It is the capital of the Nord-Pas de Calais region and the préfecture (capital) of the Nord department.

Lille (nid. Rijsel, flam.zach. - Rysel) - miasto i gmina w północnej Francji, w regionie Nord-Pas-de-Calais, w departamencie Nord. Główne miasto historycznej krainy Flandrii.Według danych na rok 1990 gminę zamieszkiwały 172 142 osoby, a gęstość zaludnienia wynosiła 6,783 osób/km² (wśród 1549 gmin regionu  Nord-Pas-de-Calais Lille plasuje się na 1. miejscu pod względem liczby ludności, natomiast pod względem powierzchni na miejscu 29.).Miasto jest zamieszkiwane przez 212 597 mieszkańców (2000), zespół miejski 1 143 125 osób (1999). Wraz z miastami Kortrijk i Mouscron w Belgii tworzy konurbację o zaludnieniu 1,7 miliona osób. Polska posiada tam swój konsulat generalny.
