Leningrad Oblast
Leningrad Oblast (, Leningradskaya oblast) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It was established on August 11927, although it was not until 1945 that the oblast's borders had been mostly settled in their present position. The oblast was named after the city of Leningrad  The administrative center of the oblast is Saint Petersburg, although it constitutes a separate federal subject (a federal city) and is administratively separate from the oblast. The first governor of Leningrad Oblast was Vadim Gustov. Since 1999 he has been succeeded by Valery Serdyukov.
