Lee Marvin (February 19, 1924 – August 29, 1987) was an Academy Award-winning Americanfilm actor. Known for his gravelly voice, Marvin was originally limited to playing mostly villains and war veterans in supporting parts on the big screen, but later (after winning a Best Actor Oscar) he appeared in more heroic and sympathetic roles.
