League of Nations mandate

A League of Nations mandate refers to several territories established under Article 22 of the Covenant of the League of Nations, 28 June 1919. Upon the entry into force of the Charter of the United Nations in late 1945, the mandates of the League of Nations (except for South-West Africa) became United Nations Trust Territories, as agreed to earlier at the Yalta Conference.

Un mandat de la Société des Nations était un territoire établi par l'article 22 du Pacte de la SDN, le 28 juin 1919. Ces territoires étaient avant la Première Guerre mondiale des colonies allemandes ou des possessions de l'Empire ottoman. Les mandats furent confiés à certaines puissances coloniales victorieuses, le Royaume-Uni, la France, la Belgique, l'Australie, la Nouvelle-Zélande, le Japon et l'Afrique du Sud.

Terytoria mandatowe - terytoria (kolonie) odebrane po I wojnie światowej Niemcom i Turcji i powierzone, uchwałą Ligi Narodów, do administracji państwom zwycięskiej Ententy: Wielkiej Brytanii, Francji lub Belgii, a także Japonii, Australii i Związkowi Południowej Afryki (ZPA, późniejsza RPA). Państwa te nazywane były mandatariuszami.

Een mandaatgebied of kortweg mandaat is de voogdij na de Eerste Wereldoorlog op basis van artikel 22 van het Handvest van de Volkenbond, die door door verschillende staten (mandatarissen) werd uitgeoefend. Deze voogdij werd uitgeoefend over voormalige Duitse koloniën en delen van het vroegere Ottomaanse Rijk, onder toezicht van de mandatencommissie van de Volkenbond. Deze gebieden kunnen in feite gezien worden als een annexatie van de Duitse kolonies en delen van het Ottomaanse Rijk door de overwinnaars van de Grote Oorlog.
