Lausanne

Lausanne (pronounced ) is a city in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, situated on the shores of Lake Geneva (French: Lac Léman), and facing Évian-les-Bains (France) and with the Jura mountains to its north. Lausanne is located some 50 km (31 mi) northeast of Geneva. It is the capital of the canton of Vaud and of the district of Lausanne. The headquarters of the International Olympic Committee are located in Lausanne. It lies in the middle of a wine-making region.

Lausanne est la cinquième ville de Suisse, capitale du canton de Vaud et chef-lieu du district de Lausanne. La commune de Lausanne compte habitants en fin 2007. Lausanne est le centre de l'agglomération lausannoise, qui compte 317 020 habitants selon l'OFS. Il s'agit d'un centre important pour la culture, le sport, l'économie et la formation ainsi qu'une plaque tournante des transports publics avec la Suisse de l'Ouest. En outre, Lausanne est la capitale olympique, où réside le siège du Comité international olympique (CIO).

Losanna (Lausanne in francese) è una città della Svizzera, capitale del Canton Vaud e dell'omonimo distretto. Conta circa 120.000 abitanti (250.000 nell'hinterland) ed è la quinta città più grande della Svizzera, preceduta in ordine decrescente da Zurigo, Ginevra, Basilea e Berna.
