Lapponia
La Lapponia, (o Sápmi in lingua sami), è la regione geografico-culturale abitata dalla popolazione Sami. Si trova nell'Europa del nord, distribuita nelle regioni settentrionali di Norvegia, Svezia, Finlandia e della penisola di Kola, in Russia.

Lapland
Lapland betekent Land van de Lappen. Het volk der Lappen beschikt wel over meerdere eigen talen (de Samische talen), maar niet over een eigen staat. Lapland strekt zich namelijk uit over het aller-noordelijkste gedeelte van Noorwegen, Zweden (Lapland), Finland en Rusland (Kola).
De naam 'Lappen' wordt door de bevolking zelf als beledigend ervaren. Die geeft de voorkeur aan de naam Saami of 'Saamen'.
Er is in Finland ook de gelijknamige provincie, zie Lapland (provincie) en in Zweden is er het Zweedse landschap Lapland.

Lapónia (povo Sami)
A Lapônia (Sápmi, Samilândia e Saamilândia), é uma região tradicionalmente habitada pelo povo Sami. Localiza-se no norte da Europa e inclui as partes setentrionais da Escandinávia e Finlândia, além da Península de Kola na Rússia. Com a queda da União Soviética e a crescente internacionalização, a cooperação além fronteiras tem-se tornado de maior importância e as fronteiras nacionais e do condado menos importantes. Isto acontece tanto para o povo aborígene - os Samos, bem como para os seus descendentes e mesmo para indivíduos que não pertençam à etnia.
