Laozi

Laozi (; also Lao Tse, Laotze, Lao Zi, and other variations) was a philosopher of ancient China and an important figure in Daoism (also called Taoism). Laozi literally means "Old Master" and is generally considered an honorific. According to Chinese tradition, Laozi lived in the 6th century BC. Many historians contend that Laozi actually lived in the 4th century BC, concurrent with the Hundred Schools of Thought and Warring States Period. Laozi was credited with writing the central Taoist work the Daodejing (also called the Tao Te Ching), which was originally known simply by his name. Taishang Laojun is a title for Laozi in the Taoist religion, which refers to him as "One of the Three Pure Ones".

Laozi ist ein legendärer chinesischer Philosoph, der im 6. Jahrhundert v. Chr. gelebt haben soll. Je nach Umschrift wird der Name auch Laotse, Lao-Tse oder Lao-tzu geschrieben. Diese älteren Umschriften sind im Folgenden hinter der Pinyin-Form in Klammern angegeben.Laozi gilt als Begründer des Daoismus (Taoismus). Das Dàodéjing (Tao Te King, ~Ching), der einflussreichste daoistische Text, wird ihm zugeschrieben und daher oft auch einfach als „Laozi“ bezeichnet. Der Text ist aber wahrscheinlich erst im 4. Jahrhundert v. Chr. entstanden beziehungsweise in seine heutige Form gebracht worden.

Laozi (chiński 老子, dosł. „Stary Mistrz”, wym. lao-dzy/lao-cy; nazwisko: Li Er; nazwisko pośmiertne: Li Dan) - półlegendarny chiński filozof, twórca taoizmu. Autor Daodejing, jednej z najważniejszych ksiąg taoizmu, zarówno filozoficznego, jak i religijnego. Istnienie Laozi nie zostało definitywnie potwierdzone historycznie. Według tradycji żył w VI w. p.n.e., a więc był współczesny Konfucjuszowi. Niektóre przekazy mówią, że był jego nauczycielem, co zdaniem historyków można uznać za taoistyczną propagandę, którą miała w ten sposób wskazywać, że konfucjanizm jest niejako odpryskiem taoizmu.

Laozi (老子, translitterato anche nelle forme Lao Tzu, Lao Tse, Lao Tze, Lao Tzi e altre) è una delle maggiori figure della filosofia cinese, la cui esistenza reale è ancora dibattuta. Attenendosi alla tradizione cinese, egli visse nel VI secolo a.C., anche se molti storici collocano la sua vita nel IV secolo a.C., il periodo delle Cento scuole di pensiero e degli Stati in guerra. È attribuita a Laozi la scrittura del Tao Te Ching, testo sacro taoista, ed egli stesso è considerato il fondatore del Taoismo. Anche il meno conosciuto Hua Hu Ching (una tradizione orale tramandata da generazioni di monaci taoisti) è spesso attribuito a Laozi.
