Der Landkreis Ammerland (von Ameri + Land = indogermanisch: Sumpfland) ist ein Landkreis im Nordwesten von Niedersachsen. Bis zur Verleihung der Stadtrechte an die Kreisstadt Westerstede am 28. Mai 1977 wies der Landkreis die Besonderheit auf, über keine einzige Stadt im Kreisgebiet zu verfügen.
