Lake Tanganyika is an African Great Lake. It is estimated to be the second largest freshwater lake in the world by volume, and the second deepest, after Lake Baikal in Siberia; it is also the world's longest freshwater lake. The lake is divided among four countries – Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Tanzania and Zambia, with the DRC (45%) and Tanzania (41%) possessing the majority of the lake. The water flows into the Congo River system and ultimately into the Atlantic Ocean.

Le lac Tanganyika, ou Tanganika est l'un des Grands Lacs d'Afrique, deuxième lac africain par la surface après le lac Victoria, le deuxième au monde par le volume et la profondeur après le lac Baïkal. Il est le plus poissonneux du monde. Ses eaux rejoignent le bassin du Congo puis l'océan Atlantique. On estime que sa formation remonte à environ 20 millions d'années (Miocène).

Tanganyikasjön är en stor sjö i Centralafrika. Sjön utgör den naturliga gränsen mellan Kongo-Kinshasa i väst och Tanzania i öst och större delen av sjön delas mellan dessa två länder. Mindre delar hör till Burundi i norr respektive Zambia i söder.

Tanganika (ang. Lake Tanganyika, fr. Lac Tanganyika) - jezioro w Afryce Południowo-Wschodniej na terytorium Zambii, Demokratycznej Republice Konga, Burundi i Tanzanii. Zajmuje powierzchnię 34,4 tys. km², jest najdłuższym słodkowodnym jeziorem świata. Jezioro położone na wysokości 773 m n.p.m. osiąga maksymalną głębokość 1435 m (drugie pod względem głębokości po jeziorze Bajkał) - stanowi tym samym kryptodepresję.
