Lake Tana (also spelled T'ana, Amharic: ጣና ሐይቅ Ṭānā Hāyḳ,"Lake Tana," an older variant is Tsana, Ge'ez ጻና Ṣānā; sometimes called "Dembiya" after the region to the north of the lake) is the source of the Blue Nile and is the largest lake in Ethiopia. Located in Amhara Region in the north-western Ethiopian highlands the lake is approximately 84 kilometers long and 66 kilometers wide, with a maximum depth of 15 meters, and an elevation of 1,840 meters. Lake Tana is fed by the Lesser Abay, Reb and Gumara Rivers and its surface area ranges from 3,000 to 3,500 km² depending on season and rainfall. The lake level has been regulated since the construction of the control weir where the lake discharges into the Blue Nile, which regulates the flow to the Tis Abbai falls and hydro-power station.

Der Tanasee, auch Tsanasee oder Dembeasee genannt, liegt im Hochland von Abessinien in Äthiopien (Ostafrika). Er ist Afrikas höchstgelegener und Äthiopiens größter See.

Le lac Tana est le plus grand lac d'Éthiopie (3630 km² environ 70kms en largeur et 80kms en longeur), c'est le plus septentrional du pays, il est situé à une altitude moyenne de 1800 m. Il s'est élevé à l'ère tertiaire, avec la surrection du bouclier arabo-éthiopien (unité tectonique entre l'Afrique de l'Est et la péninsule arabique).

Tanasjön, Tsana, Tana Hayk, är den största sjön i Etiopien. Sjön ligger i det etiopiska höglandet, på 1 830 meters höjd, och är källan till Blå Nilen, som vid utloppet ur sjön bildar ett 43 meter högt vattenfall. Tanasjön är 3 600 km² stor och den är 72 meter som djupast. Som längst är sjön 84 km och som bredast är den 66 km. Det finns ett flertal bebodda öar i sjön; den största är Dek Island, som är 16 km² stor och som har ca 17 000 invånare. Sjön är fiskrik.

Jezioro Tana - (amh. ጣና ሐይቅ) największe jezioro Etiopii, o powierzchni ok. 2849 km² (powierzchnia zmienia się w zależności od pór roku i opadów deszczu) i głębokości nie przekraczającej 14 metrów. W jeziorze Tana rozpoczyna swój bieg Nil Błękitny.
