Labasa

Labasa (IPA:) is a town in Fiji with a population of 24,187 at the last census held in 1996. Labasa is located in the Province of Macuata, in the north-eastern part of the island of Vanua Levu, and is the largest town on the island. The town itself is located on a delta formed by three rivers - the Wailevu, the Labasa (after which the town is named), and the Qawa. The latter two are connected by an 8-kilometer canal. The main street of Labasa prides itself for having the only set of traffic lights in the entire island. This set of lights however, are functional only intermittently.

Labasa [] ist eine Stadt in Fidschi mit 24.187 Einwohnern (Stand: 1996). Sie liegt im Nordosten der Insel Vanua Levu in der Macuata Provinz. Die Hauptstraße ist die einzige Straße auf Vanua Levu die im Besitz von Ampeln und anderen elektrischen Straßenanlagen ist. Diese fallen jedoch häufig aus. Bürgermeister von Labasa ist Dr. Pradeep Singh.

Labasa - miasto na Fidżi, w północno-wschodniej części wyspy Vanua Levu. Miasto jest największe na wyspie i liczy, według spisu z 1996 roku, 24187 mieszkańców. Leży w delcie utworzonej przez 3 rzeki: Wailevu, Labasa i Qawa. Ośrodek handlowy regionu rolniczego, produkcja cukru trzcinowego. Miasto jest stolicą  Dystryktu Północnego.

Labasa är en ort i Fiji med en befolkning på 24 187 invånare enligt folkräkningen från 1996. Labasa ligger i provinsen Macuata, i norra delen av ön Vanua Levu, och är den största staden på ön. Staden ligger i ett delta som bildas av tre floder, Wailevufloden, Labasafloden (efter vilken staden är döpt) och Qawafloden. De senare två kopplas ihop av en åtta kilometer lång kanal. Labasas huvudgata hyser öns enda trafikljus.
