La Franja

The term Franja de Aragón or Franja de Poniente (western strip) in Spanish, Franja d'Aragó or Franja de Ponent in Catalan, and Francha d'Aragón or Francha de Lebán (eastern strip) in Aragonese) is normally applied to the territory comprising the Catalan-speaking territories of Aragon (Spain), bordering Catalonia. There exist many uses of the term, although these do not always coincide in their definition. It is usually considered to be made up from municipalities of the following comarcas: Ribagorza / Baixa Ribagorça, La Litera / La Llitera, Bajo Cinca / Baix Cinca and Matarraña / Matarranya

On appelle Frange d’Aragon (Franja de Aragón en castillan, Franja d'Aragó en catalan, Francha d'Aragón en aragonais) le territoire de langue catalane situé dans la Communauté autonome d'Aragon limitrophe de la Catalogne.

Franja de Ponent of La Franja (Catalaans voor 'Weststrook') is een gebied in het oosten van de autonome gemeenschap Aragón, en bestaat uit 4 comarcas. Deze streek, die telkens de oostelijke strook van de drie Aragonese provincies (Huesca, Teruel en Saragossa) omvat, is vooral Catalaanstalig, in tegenstelling tot de rest van Aragón, waar vooral Castilliaans en Aragonees wordt gesproken. Het Catalaans is geen officiële taal in Aragón.

El término Franja de Aragón (Franja d'Aragó en catalán) se aplica habitualmente al territorio que comprende las tierras de lengua catalana en Aragón (España), limítrofes con Cataluña (España), si bien con el tiempo han surgido nuevas y diversas aplicaciones no siempre coincidentes respecto al territorio al cual hacen referencia.
