Lugh (earlier Lug, modern Irish Lú, pronounced //) is an Irish deity represented in mythological texts as a hero and High King of the distant past. He is known by the epithets Lámhfhada ("long hand"), for his skill with a spear or sling, Ildanach ("skilled in many arts"), Samh-ildánach ("Equally skilled in many arts"), Lonnbeimnech ("fierce striker" or perhaps "sword-shouter") and Macnia ("boy hero"), and by the matronymic mac Ethlenn or mac Ethnenn ("son of Ethliu or Ethniu"). He is a reflex of the pan-Celtic god Lugus, and his Welsh counterpart is Lleu Llaw Gyffes "Lugh Strong Hand".

Lug est le dieu suprême de la mythologie celtique, non seulement parce qu'il est au sommet de la hiérarchie mais aussi parce qu'il est panceltique : il fait partie des rares divinités à se retrouver sous le même nom, selon nos connaissances, chez tous les peuples celtes. Le Shandong (山东 pinyin : shāndōng, à l'est de la montagne) est une province de l'est de la Chine, sur la Mer Jaune et le golfe de Bohai. Avec plus de 90 millions d'habitants, c'est la province la plus peuplée du pays après le Henan voisin. Bien que situé au Sud de Pékin, on considère que le Shandong fait partie de la Chine du Nord. Son chef-lieu est Jinan (济南 pinyin: Jǐ'nán). La partie est de la province, la péninsule du Shandong où se trouve la ville de Qingdao, bénéficie d'importants investissements étrangers.

Lugh (der Leuchtende oder der Krieger ), der auch die Beinamen Lamhfhada (mit dem langen Arm) und Samildanach (der Kunstfertige) hat, ist eine Gestalt der frühmittelalterlichen irischen Sage. Er wird als "Sonnengott" bezeichnet, stellt jedoch nicht die Verkörperung der (bei den Kelten stets weiblich gedachten) Sonne dar. Stattdessen ist er ein Lichtgott, dessen Antlitz hell wie die Sonne ist und der auf einem magischen Streitwagen in die Schlacht gegen die dämonischen Formoren zieht.

Lugh, którego imię oznacza "lśniący" był celtyckim bogiem słońca. Był przystojny, wiecznie młody i pełen życia i energii. Energia ta przjawiała się szczególnie w multum posiadanych przezeń umiejętności, które - według legend - opanował do mistrzostwa. Był bogiem-patronem miejscowości Lugdunum (obecnie jest to Lyon, we Francji).
